CTEP Director Mark Hodges and Assistant Director Jim Howes attended the recent Soquel High School Career Expo. There were more than 400 students in attendance and 19 companies and organizations representing their industry sector. CTEP thanks Janice Manion (our counselor) and Mary Gaukel (Your Future is Our Business) for making this valuable opportunity available for students.
Meeting the many representatives from industry helps students explore various career interests that they may not have considered.
While music played in the background from Indigital Music, students mingled and sampled coffee or tea from Starbucks. They learned how to manage their finances with the help of a Bay Federal Credit Union representative and spoke to a registered nurse in the medical field. Cabrillo College discussed their many course offerings. The National Guard, the Cosmo Factory, Driscolls, Whiting’s, the Boardwalk, Wargin Wines, Granite Rock, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s and Probation Departments, Habitat for Humanity, the Fashion Institute of Design Marketing were just some of those available to meet with students.
Thank you to all of our teachers and staff who support these efforts.
