California’s Updated Accountability System Released – California School Dashboard

The California Department of Education (CDE) and the State Board of Education (SBE) released the California School Dashboard on December 6th. Review the press release from State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

California school dashboard logoThe Dashboard provides school communities with a comprehensive view of how their schools are performing and serving students across a variety of measures. The Dashboard has a new, user-friendly look and is mobile friendly. A fully translated Spanish version will be available January 2019.  New this year are indicators evaluating K-8 attendance and 9-12 college and career readiness.

A Dashboard Video Tutorial is available along with many other resources.

Based on the Dashboard results, some districts in Santa Cruz County have been identified for Differentiated Assistance–strategic support around areas of improvement. When two or more priority areas within the Dashboard are in the red “range,” a district is identified for Differentiated Assistance, and a specialized team from the Santa Cruz County Office of Education works closely with the district to assess their strengths and weaknesses. Recommendations to address areas that need improvement will then be developed.

See how well Santa Cruz County schools and districts are performing — note: performance is focused on improvements made from previous years.
