Watsonville High School Auto Shop Building Named in Honor of CTEP Teacher Bill Sunderland

Group picture
Bill Sunderland retired after 47 years teaching automotive classes at WHS. He immediately began mentoring the new teacher and teaches students in the drivers training program.

Bill studied Gen ED at Humbolt State, received his AA in Auto Tech at Santa Rosa Junior College and his BA in Industrial Arts at Chico State.

Former students remember Bill walking to school/work wearing his auto shop lab coat and WHS hat.

Bill was a reference for students and helped find work.

Bill photographed many WHS events and worked into the evenings.

Bill developed a basic auto class for female students so they would have basic skills if their car broke down.

Thank you for all of your service to Watsonville and WHS students.
