National Read for the Record Day

 

County Superintendent of Schools Michael Watkins participated in the National Read for the Record Day. The National Reading Association sponsors this annual event. This year, the goal was to enlist the largest number of participants throughout the country. All participants, including schools, libraries, community organizations and individuals read the same book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Superintendent Watkins was honored to read to third, fourth and fifth grade students and staff at San Lorenzo Valley Elementary.

The total number of participants for this year was 2,019,752 worldwide.
