SCCOE Holds Ribbon Cutting and Open House

After 29 years located in a commercial shopping center on Bay Avenue in Capitola, the Santa Cruz County Office of Education (COE) held a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Thursday, October 16th to officially introduce our new facilities in Harvey West Park to the public. Assemblymember John Laird, Board of Supervisor Chair Ellen Pirie, Supervisor Mark Stone, Santa Cruz Mayor Ryan Coonerty, Capitola Mayor Kirby Nicol, Watsonville Mayor Pro Temp Antonio Rivas and County Office of Education Board President Jack Dilles addressed other elected officials, district superintendents, COE staff, and other well wishers.

Following the program and ribbon cutting, tours of the building were offered to visitors. As guests were shown around the new building, department managers provided details of their programs and services. Departments visited included Special Education, Alternative Education, Regional Occupational Programs, Business Department, Educational Services, Human Resources, and Student Support Services. These services touch the lives of children throughout the County.

This move is an investment in the future of the community and the County Office of Education in its mission to provide services to the students, teachers and administrators of the 11 school districts in the County. We are proud to be located in the Harvey West Park industrial area in a building suited to meeting the needs of our clients and the public.
